An Interview with Joy Pape, RN BSN CDE WOCN CFCN by Jonathan Jarashow.

Johnathan Jarashow, publisher of CDIabetes.com, talks here with Joy Pape about the importance of good dental care for people with diabetes. It’s known that not maintaining good dental health can cause diabetes complications. For example, good oral hygiene can reduce inflammation, something is more common among people with diabetes, and good care can be as simple as brushing regularly or using floss.

Joy recommends

Joy Pape recommends you use Colgate Total, since it contains a special ingredient that helps to combat bacteria. Research shows that this can reduce plaque, as well as help in other ways. Regular visits to the dentist are also important for this, with 2-3 visits per year, or 4 if you suffer from dental disease. Bleeding and swollen gums are jut some of the problems that can come from not taking proper care of your teeth, which can lead to inflammation and interfere with your general diabetes care.
