Those with diabetes at more risk of severe flu symptoms
It is known that those with diabetes are more at risk for heart disease, vision problems, and nerve damage. However, it has recently been found that those with diabetes are more at risk for being put in the hospital for the flu. A study group of men and women from Canada found that those with diabetes were 6-percent more likely to have severe flu symptoms that put them in the hospital as compared to those without diabetes. Therefore, along with a healthy diet, staying active, and following your diabetes care plan, add a flu shot to your health plan for added protection!
